Battle! Student Council President Elections (決戦!生徒会長選 Kessen! Seito Kaichō-sen) is the seventh episode of the Love Live! Superstar!! anime series. It aired on September 12, 2021.
Summary[]
Kanon and Keke begin their next school term with Chisato, who transferred programs to be in the same class with the two. The three later find a flyer that the Student Council program will be formed and Ren will run unopposed. Keke and Chisato convince Kanon to run for the election for the sake of school idols, but Kanon becomes hesitant to hold a serious responsibility. Sumire overhears the three and volunteers for candidacy to represent them. The situation becomes complicated when Ren's natural-born leadership earns the hearts and minds of students from both the general curriculum and music program. In the end, Ren is elected by a landslide, much to Sumire's dismay.
Thinking back, Kanon decides to talk to Ren about her dislike for school idols, but Ren dodges the question. During her inauguration speech, Ren suddenly broke her campaign promise by prioritizing the music program students for the school festival, resulting in disapproval from the general curriculum. Feeling something's wrong with Ren, the girls decide to follow her to her house to know more about her. Upon being let in, they find mementos of the old Yuigaoka school, and stumble upon Ren on releasing her maid, Saya, who is hesitant to leave her alone. Upon approaching her directly, Ren states that she is determined to save her school left behind by her mother.

Notes & Trivia[]
- NHK-E broadcast exclusive End Card: Ren Hazuki
- The episode marks the first appearance of Hana Hazuki and her maid, Saya.
- The episode also confirms that Hana has been passed away prior to the Anime's events, which leaves her entire household to a debt, with Ren giving her all for the sake of the school's reputation.
- Ren's father is only mentioned.
Callbacks to previous Love Live! Series[]
- Due to the events at the second half of the story, the episode also marks the return of the "school closing down" concept since Otonokizaka in Love Live! and Uranohoshi in Sunshine!!.
- Sumire dons a disguise (complete with soft serve-like hat) similarly used by Nico Yazawa in Nico Attacks, complete with a young boy calling her "poop".
- Continuing the franchise's minor tradition of opposing father characters, it was revealed that Ren's father abandoned the family (likely due to his wife's actions on keeping Yuigaoka Girls' High School open) to the point where the household's financial stability is at stake.
Continuity Notes[]
- After being mentioned by the director and Ren, Hana Hazuki eventually appears, albeit in a flashback and in a photo of her younger years.
