Catch the Transfer Student! (転校生をつかまえろ! Tenkousei o Tsukamaero!) is the second episode of the Love Live! Sunshine!! anime series. It was aired on July 9, 2016.


Chika keeps trying to get Riko to join the School Idol Club, only to get rejected every time, while Dia shows a surprising amount of knowledge about μ's. Hearing about Riko's struggles with piano playing, Chika and You take her to scuba diving, where she learns to hear the sounds of the ocean.

The next day, Riko decides to help Chika compose their music, encouraging her to write lyrics based on her love of idols. After listening to one of μ's' songs, Riko decides to take up Chika's offer and join her club.

  • This marks the first appearance of Riko's younger self.
  • This marks the first & only appearance of Chika's Pajama with Syllable "C", thought her back is seen briefly she never appeared in her Pajama outside episode 2 & replaced in episode 10.
  • It is later revealed that Dia is a closet fan of school idols as she revealed it through the intercom.
  • You's conductor costume art predated Aqours' HAPPY PARTY TRAIN's costumes.
  • Riko refers to Chika as "Takami-san" during their first meet, however Chika also refers to Riko as "Sakurauchi-san". Both their "-san" honorifics replaced with "-chan" in the future episodes.
  • It is later revealed that Chika and Riko are next door neighbors.
  • In the final scene of the Episode where Riko and Chika attempted to reach their hands from their windows/balconies, The real life versions of Chika's inn and Riko's apartment had a 20-foot gap between them. The Anime shortens the gap between the two buildings.
