Emma Verde

Emma Verde, also known as just Emma, is one of the nine main characters of Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a third year at Nijigasaki High School. Her image color is light green. She is a member of QU4RTZ, a unit under the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.

Background

Emma is from Switzerland and has eight younger siblings. She formerly attended the Y.G. International Academy.

Along with Shizuku Osaka and Kanata Konoe, she works with the Love Live! School idol festival app, where the three of them originally appeared as N-rarity characters.

In the Nijigasaki High School dorms, she shares a room with Karin Asaka.

She uses the Italian word "Buono" (meaning "good") when introducing herself, which indicates that she is from the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, which includes the canton (Swiss Confederation member state) of Ticino and some southern parts of Grisons. Her family name "Verde" means "green" in Italian.

Personality

Emma is a kind and easygoing girl with a healing nature. She is very cheerful, pleasant, and tries to look after the other idols. She aims to be encouraging and to help others smile.

Like Shizuku, Emma tends to keep her worries to herself. She gets nervous easily.

Having many brothers and sisters back home, she can relate to Kanata on the joys of being an older sister. Her family regularly sends her video letters so they can stay connected.

In another All Stars bond episode, she reveals that her dream to become a school idol was the reason why she studied Japanese and eventually came to Japan. She first learned about them after seeing a TV show about them in Switzerland on a night where a snowstorm meant she had to spend the night alone. Her pursuit of her dream has also allowed her to combat being homesick.

Clubs and Hobbies

In her free time, Emma likes to go on woodland walks, and sometimes play in the river. She enjoys quilting as well.

She likes food, especially bread crusts. In an All Stars story scene, she narrowly bests Hanayo in a dumpling eating contest after both she and Hanayo ask for their favorite foods (bread and rice respectively) as side dishes, sustaining their appetite.

What has been good about becoming a school idol? Seeing so many smiles, perhaps. After starting as a school idol, the number of people supporting me grew bit by bit. That I could make them smile and have fun makes me happy like nothing else has. So I’ll try my best from now on, to be able to see many more smiles~♪ What should school idols aim to do on a daily basis? This is kind of similar to my last answer, but maybe always having a smile on your face? When someone’s thinking “I’m not really feeling energetic today” or “I’m feeling kind of down”, I feel like it’d be great if I could share even a bit of my energy using my smile. What were your first impressions of the two you’re working with? Just looking at Kanata-chan, I thought “Ahh, she seems easy to get along with~”. Kanata and I are both carefree types, so I thought that we’d definitely get along. But, I was surprised by how much Kanata-chan thinks about her sister. I have a lot of younger brothers and sisters too, so we got pretty deep into talking about how fun it is to be an older sister. Shizuku-chan is a girl with a lot of perseverance. Right now, it feels a bit like she’s a younger sister to me and Kanata-chan. No matter what she’s doing, she puts her all into it, so we can’t help but cheer for her. Before this, when we delivered a sandwich to Shizuku-chan, who was practicing for a play, she was really delighted, and that made me happy too. What do you do in your day-to-day life? Bathing in hot springs feels really good, right~♪ Is there anything you’ve been obsessed with lately? For me, it’d be heading to the supermarket after school. Supermarkets in Japan sell such a large variety of things throughout the year, and I think that’s really incredible. When I’m wondering what to make for dinner today, I have a lot of fun picking out the ingredients, but cooking for one is pretty difficult... When I lived in Switzerland, we’d cook a huge pot of cheese, or bake a ton of bread at a time... So for now, I’m sticking to preparing food in advance.
