Template:Infobox2 episode I Want to Shine!! (輝きたい!! Kagayakitai!!) is the first episode of the Love Live! Sunshine!! anime series. It was aired on July 2, 2016.
Summary
Having been inspired by the school idol group μ's, Takami Chika, a second-year student at Uranohoshi Girls' High School, tries to start her own School Idol Club. As Chika and her friend, Watanabe You, try to recruit members, she faces resistance from the student council president, Kurosawa Dia, who states she will not approve such a club.
Later that day, Chika comes across a girl from Tokyo, and explains to her how she became inspired by μ's, who showed her how normal people could shine. Inspired by her story, the girl introduces herself as Sakurauchi Riko, a transfer student from Otonokizaka High School, the same school μ's attended.
After You decides to become the first new member of the School Idol Club, Riko transfers into Chika's class. In high hopes of gaining another member for her club, Chika asks Riko to join, only to have her invitation declined.
Plot
During first year, Chika Takami and You Watanabe are out at Tokyo city. Chika came across a maid cafe staff promoting their offer using their flyer. A breeze from nowhere blew the flyers all over the floor in which Chika help the staff to pick them up. But one flyer was flying followed the wind, and Chika chases the flyer to the Tokyo UTX School. She was about to pick it up when the wind blew all of them once again away. It was at that time, Chika saw the Love Live! advertisement on the school's LED Screen.
Having been inspired by the school idol group μ's, Chika Takami, a second-year student at Uranohoshi Girls' High School, tries to start her own School Idol Club. One spring during the entrance ceremony day, She and You starts to recruit members, however to Chika's disappointment, they do not get any member as expected. The next day, Chika is in her room with You early in the morning where she pose as one of μ's member, much to her sisters Shima and Mito's disgust who are downstairs. You looks into her phone satisfies with Chika pose much to Chika's delight. She then asks Chika if she is really going to start the club. Chika then replies that she will start the club right after their second year begins. You continue asking her that if anyone else is joining, which Chika replies as no one so far except You who is not in the swim club already. You, curious ask why Chika interested in becoming idol since she was not interested in any clubs. You and Chika look at the time, realised they are late for the bus, but fortunately chased up with the bus in time.
In the bus, Chika revealed that she had made the flyer earlier and that she is excited to establish an idol club. You then replies to Chika that she agrees to help Chika with the set up of the club. Chika and You once again recruit member for the idol club at the school compound when Hanamaru Kunikida and Ruby Kurosawa passes by. Chika then go approaches Hanamaru and Ruby asks if they want to be school idol, further convince them that they will be popular. Chika then asks Ruby if she is interested. Ruby, curious, asks Chika if she holds concert. Chika replies to Ruby that no concert is being held yet, that she just started the club and need cute girl like Ruby to join while touches Ruby's hand. Knowing that Ruby is shy in nature, Hanamaru shuts her ear just in time for Ruby to cry out of her embarassment, much to You and Chika's surprise. Yoshiko, having hid above the tree earlier, leaps down to the ground in front of Chika, You, Hanamaru and Ruby with her bag drops on her later while she acts like her legs are in pain.
