Mayu Sagara was born on April 17 in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Her common voice actress nickname is "Mayuchi." She voices Kasumi Nakasu, one of the main characters in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.
Her call-and-response during concerts begins with "Minna no princess, Kasumin da yo!" (lit. It's everyone's princess, Kasumin!), to which the audience replies, "Kasukasu!" Mayuchi then says, "Kasukasu janakute, Kasumin desu!" (lit. It's not Kasukasu! It's Kasumin!). The audience then shouts, "Kawaii yo!" (lit. You're so cute!).
Her image color during concerts is pastel yellow.

- The name Mayu means "jasmine" (่) (ma) and "excellence, superiority, gentleness" (ๅช) (yu).
- Mayu's surname Sagara means "phase, aspect, countenance, mutually, fellow" (็ธ) (saga) and "good, virtuous, respectable" (่ฏ) (ra).
