Mei Yoneme is a main character in Love Live! Superstar!!. She is currently a second year student at Yuigaoka Girls' High School. She is both a second-generation member of Liella! and a member of the sub-unit CatChu!. Her image color is rouge.
Background[]
When Mei was younger, she was told she had a scary look, and all of her friends were scared of her. This affected the way she perceived herself, and thought she didn't suit being a school idol, despite liking them a lot.
Mei can play piano.
Personality[]
Mei is very shy and doesn't like it when people say nasty things about her. She doesn't like being stared at. She also does not like being called "cute", since it makes her embarrassed.
She and Shiki have been friends since middle school. Mei was also a massive fan of Liella! before joining the group, and whenever people always mentioned school idols in front of her, it always made her embarrassed. However, after joining Liella!, she has been okay with people mentioning school idols in front of her ever since.

Etymology[]
- The name Mei is written in katakana (ใกใค), which has no special meaning. Her name is officially written in Chinese as ่ฝ่กฃ, meaning "bud, sprout" (่ฝ) (me) and "clothing, garment" (่กฃ) (i).
- Mei's surname Yoneme means "rice woman" (็ฑณๅฅณ). While it is a real surname, it is extremely rare and exists in very small numbers.
- "็ฑณ" read as Yone (ใใญ) translates to "rice, paddy".
Trivia[]
- Along with Kinako Sakurakoji, Mei fulfills the pure attribute of the Liella! second years.
- Mei is the only Yugiaoka student seen not wearing a ribbon on her school uniform.
- The fourth episode of the second season reveals that she has bad eyesight, as this was the reason why she terrifies other students due to her slight squinting.
