R3BIRTH is a unit under Nijigaku. The unit consists of three members: Shioriko Mifune, Mia Taylor, and Lanzhu Zhong. They debuted with the song MONSTER GIRLS. Their unit color is tanzanite.[1]
Group Formation[]
The group was formed in phases:
- In July 2021, a form was opened to submit names for the unit.
- In July 2021, the choices for unit names were revealed.
- In September 2021, the chosen unit name was revealed.
Etymology[]
Due to the image presented by the group, many of the name submissions had meanings that emphasize them being a trio, or starting off as antagonist-like figures to Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, before befriending them and joining their club.
R3BIRTH comes from all three girls rediscovering why they love music and what it means to be an idol, each becoming even stronger than who they were previously.
Other highlighted submissions were KiRa-KiLler, GLITT3R and JACK!!.

- The name R3BIRTH was submitted by rintaichou, a popular streamer/YouTuber, making it the third submission (after A・ZU・NA and QU4RTZ) to come from someone outside of Japan.
- R3BIRTH is the first unit to reveal their debut song and MV before a unit name was chosen.
- Lanzhu is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin, while Mia is fluent in English. This makes R3BIRTH the first tetralingual unit.
- Like lily white, R3BIRTH is a unit that consists of members who have different attributes and are in different school years.
