Introduction[1] |
---|
Hello, everyone. I’m Shizuku Osaka.
I love performing in plays, so I joined the theater club here. We make our own costumes, and regularly put on plays for the public. I became a school idol to get better at acting. But recently, a senior student I respect encouraged me, saying “Let’s reach for a higher stage as school idols!”, and I had a realization. Plays and school idol activities are very similar: people come to enjoy themselves, to be moved, and to have us put smiles on their faces. So from now on, I’ll try even harder to become a better school idol! With the acting skills I’ve learned from theater, I’ll work diligently to make everyone smile. I may not know much about being a school idol yet, but I’d be happy if you came to see me trying my hardest! I’ll be in your care! |
Question & Answer Corner[1] |

What has been good about becoming a school idol? I’d have to say that it’s the fact that I’ve been able to meet so many people. All the people cheering me on, the people working with us, and my fellow school idols too. Everyone has been wonderful, and I’ve been lucky to be able to learn a lot. I really am glad that I started being a school idol. What should school idols keep in mind on a daily basis?' You have to be conscious of the importance of making your movements beautiful. Of course you have to keep that in mind for dancing, but being charming in your movements is something that’s needed in acting as well. Actors in historical plays, for example, gesture elegantly, and even the most minute movements can snatch one’s attention without noticing! You could even say that the feeling is like that of water flowing down a stream, with nothing stopping—oh, I’m so sorry. Once I get started talking about acting, it’s hard to stop myself... What were your first impressions of the two you’re working with? Umm, to be honest, when I first met Emma-san and Kanata-san, I thought they were the same age as me. Now that I think back to that, I really have to say that I’m sorry. But, now that I’ve worked with them, I’ve come to love the atmosphere that arises when we’re together. Perhaps you could say that it’s because they’re like big sisters? There’s this tenderness when they’re around, and I end up feeling kind of like a spoiled kid. What do you do in your day-to-day life? I go to see plays, and watch DVDs of dramas and movies. And recently, I’ve been thinking that it’s important to have some time where I’m not thinking about acting, so I decided to take up that challenge. Actually, we’ve been saying that we should all go on a picnic, and Emma-san promised that she’ll make us bentos with Swiss food! It’ll be a lot of fun! ♪ What do you like to do? Acting! Ah, I guess I can’t only say that… Umm… Oh, right, I also like to sew. When making the costumes for our plays, it feels like I’m being useful… wait, we came back to the topic of acting… urgh… Is there anything you’ve been obsessed with lately? A little while ago, I was into collecting small Japanese-style accessories. The other day, we were working on a Taisho Romance play, and the accessories in the props were really cute! Being able to learn about worlds that I didn’t know much about is one of the fascinating parts of theater. What do you like about yourself? I only realized this recently, but perhaps it’s having the courage to leap into the world of school idols. Now that I’m thinking about it, I was surprised that I had that kind of courage in me. I can’t help but be really grateful to the senpai that invited me to become a school idol. What’s your dream? Oh, umm, ah, er… well, s-someday I’d like to be a mom, and if I could let my child see a play I’m acting in… I’d be very happy. I’ve thought something like that once in a while. N-not that anything like that is going to happen soon! Oh gosh, my face is red… How did you become interested in acting? When I was a child, my mom took me to see a play for children. On that stage, the actors shone so brightly, and before I knew it, they really drew me into it. After that, I thought that “I want to go up on stage like that!”, and that’s how I got started. Unexpectedly, you’re bad at ball games. My motor skills aren’t bad, I think, but no matter what, it seems that I’m only bad at ball games. When the ball goes flying, you could say I get confused, and I can’t move like I want to. Whether it’s receiving during volleyball, or catching a pass during basketball, for some reason, the ball manages to hit my face every time… Uh, please don’t laugh! Because I really do worry about it… A message for everyone cheering you on, please! Recently, I’ve been given this space to convey my words to everyone, bit by bit, and I’ve been able to communicate—in my own way—my efforts and feelings. And I’ve been able to hear the voices of everyone who’s responded to what I’ve said here. The voices of those who’ve cheered me on, those who’ve encouraged me, and—though it’s a little embarrassing—those who’ve said they like me. I’ll concentrate on my work, so that I can become even more worthy of this support from everyone. This has been Shizuku Osaka, and I’ll be in your care! |
