Yohane the Parhelion -BLAZE in the DEEPBLUE- (幻日のヨハネ -BLAZE in the DEEPBLUE- Genjitsu no Yohane -BLAZE in the DEEPBLUE-) is an 2D action game developed and published by INTI CREATES CO., LTD., based on the Yohane the Parhelion anime series.

Like the Yohane the Parhelion anime, it was originally revealed as a "joke" announcement on April Fools' Day in 2023 (the series itself was an April Fools' joke the year before), before being officially announced and confirmed to be in development on June 26 of that year. The same day, it was announced that the game would be released on November 16, 2023 on the PC's Steam platform, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Overview[]

The game's format is similar to the Metroidvania format (a portmanteau of the video game series Metroid and Castlevania) in that it is a 2D side-scrolling story-driven platformer. Yohane (Yoshiko) is the main playable character, but as she rescues her friends (other Aqours members), they also lend their abilities. The initial trailer also shows that there is a crafting system and that there is a rogue-like element because some rooms of the game's dungeon are randomized.

Synopsis[]

When an undersea dungeon suddenly surfaces in the ocean near Numazu, it becomes the talk of the town.

Several of Yohane's curious friends venture inside to investigate.
However, not a single one has returned from the labyrinth...

In order to rescue her friends, Yohane herself must brave the depths.
She'll encounter fierce challenges, such as monstrous fish and ever-changing corridors.

Will Yohane be able to rescue her friends and uncover the mystery of the dungeon?

Trivia[]

  • This is the first platforming video game in the Love Live! franchise.
  • It is also the first Love Live! game to be released on multi-platform from formerly PlayStation-exclusive.

Callbacks to Love Live! Sunshine!![]

  • Hanamaru's special ability consists of destroying enemies with a huge explosion caused by her accidental mishandling to a laptop, much like how her original counterpart accidentally "turned it off" in Yohane Descends.
